Transcript for "Masterclass N2: Create on the go. Publish video faster from your phone.": Hello, everyone. Let me click, our go live button on LinkedIn as well. And hi. Let me know oh, you you cannot hear me. Let me know in the chat who can hear me. Okay. Cool. So for those who can oh, very good. So many people can hear me. If you cannot hear me, then it's probably that you need to go out, like, close the tab and come back again, and this will work for you. This has been happening with Coldcast, our webinar platform. But, anyways, welcome, everyone. So happy to meet you again. Number two of our New Year Masterclasses series. And with me today, I have our head of mobile, Willem. Hey, Willem. Hey, Anna. I think I'm muted still or not. No. No. You are you are not. not mute. We can hear you. Great. Well, so a little housekeeping before we dive right in. This session is being recorded, so you will get the recording after the webinar. And then there is the chat. Has discovered the chat already. Let us know where you're coming from, what kind of videos you are creating. We it would be lovely for us to learn that. And, also, if you have any questions, drop them in the chat. I will try to answer them, and Willem will also try to answer answer them at the end. So, yeah, that's it. Oh, by the way, there was an interesting question right before we started. I think it was of whether we our app is available on iPhone 12. Let's maybe start with answering that, and I will leave the stage to you, Voule. Thank you, Ana, and welcome, everyone. Super excited to be here today. I'll tell you a little bit about myself. So I'm head of mobile at Veed, and I've been with Veed for quite a long time. I was working on our core editing product that most people use on their computer. And then at some point, we figured out, well, more and more people want to use us on their phones, and that's why we launched an iOS app. It's iOS only for now. Android app is coming later down the line, but for now, it's only on your iPhone. And yes, an iPhone 12 should work as well. There is some cutoff point where we don't have the full functionality anymore because just the old phones don't support all of it, but iPhone 12 should work. And if it doesn't, you probably need to update your software. Cool. So I'm very excited to be here today. We're going to make this a very high energy interactive session. So please feel free to share your questions in the chat as we go along. There will be a lot of time for Q and A in the end of the presentation as well. So is everyone ready? Let's dive in. And I would like to dive in with a little question for you guys. Who posted a video on social media this week? Can I see some hands or erections in the in the chat? I see a lot of people responding. Cool. That's great. That's great. I'm very happy to hear that. Maybe next question. Who was proud of that video? I've been in a place that sometimes, you know, you make great videos and you're super proud of it, and sometimes, like, that was my best effort ever. So so okay. Okay. Cool. Cool. That's great to know. Well, it seems like we have a great audience today because we're gonna be talking about creating good videos from your phone. And the first question is what makes a good video? We'll be looking at tons of videos throughout this this webinar, but maybe you can already share what is something that, for you at least, makes a video good or not. I'm looking at the chat, seeing storytelling. That's great. Anything else? Story and sound design. Cool. Cool. Yeah. Let's lighting is very important. I have I have two different lights set up here trying to make something out of it. Normally, you always want to face a window, but I thought this is a pretty cool background for a webinar with the Amsterdam Canals. Audio quality is very important too. Cool. So let's look at a few videos and try to analyze, hey. What makes them good or not? So let's start with this one. This is how much it actually cost me to launch an app, and it now has around 20,000 users. I vibe coded this app completely solo. First up, a $142 from Brazil where the app is hosted. This one hurt, but So any takers, what do you like about this video? What makes it good? Sound effects. Yeah. Audio quality. B roll images. Authentic. What do you yeah. The voice over is cool too. What do you think makes it authentic? Edit is fast and punchy. Nice. Guys, you're good at this. This is gonna be a fun one. Angles, perspectives. The hook felt personal. Cool. Yeah. That's great. Let's and maybe if someone can speak to oh, I can tell you what a b roll is, by the way. So the questions are going really fast. So I'll try to keep up. If I don't respond to what you're saying, please feel free to share it again in the chat or maybe Anna can call it out sometimes. A B roll is basically it comes from back in the days when videos were still on a roll. You had the a roll, which is the main footage, and then the b roll was the secondary footage that you can cut in. So for her, it's this spike because of traffic. well, for example, this web analytics thing. Right? It's it's b roll here to give some extra context for the video and also some extra well, some more stuff is happening visually. Cool. Let's look at the second one. This is the healthiest coffee in the world, and it's about to change your life. My name is Il. I'm the founder of Reformed, and we're here to transform your morning routine. One cup of our coffee contains 17 grams of collagen protein, a blend of functional mushrooms. So what's good about this one? What a strong hook. It cuts. Good pitch. Yeah. More people agree on the hook. Okay. Cool. Cool. Some people think it's too busy or cuts too quickly. Yeah. There's also always a a personal preference to it. Right? And and what might resonate for you might not resonate for someone else. Cool. Then we have another one here. In the fifteen hundreds brought by Portuguese traders. Say what? This is a random cut. It's not from the beginning of the video. What do you guys think about this one? Clearly AI. Very short. Yes. Just showed a short snippet of that. Private atmosphere. Cool. Nice. I like all the input, guys. Yeah. Some people think it's AI, some don't. Sarah, why do you think this is AI generated? Okay. Cool. So, yeah, I think a lot of people were talking about great storylines. I I fully agree. The hook is very important. Right? The first three seconds, especially if you're on social media, people are scrolling, you wanna have a great first three seconds of your video. Super important. And it's often what you're saying or what you're showing can also be a little title, a bit of text that intrigues people. The first three seconds are very important. Then the right shot, it might be so we saw some, like, cozy lighting for some people or the guy was outside or he had certain angles, a cool background, good lighting that that really helps to set your video apart from the rest. Cool text and subtitles. I think we we hardly even noticed it. Nobody called it out almost, but all of these had pretty cool either text animations or subtitles. Some came with with audio even. The the girl with the iPad, like, audio to animate text in. But, yeah, it almost seems like it's stable stage because we don't even call it out. And then b roll. You see it time and time again that this is something a lot of people are are doing. And it helps in two ways. Right? Because it gives so much more context about your story. You actually show the things that you're talking about, but it also is just visually more engaging, which keeps people hooked on your video. And then sound effects. Some people might watch videos without the sound on. That's why subtitles are so important as well. But for the people who do have their sound on, like we have today, sound effects are usually important. So now I'm gonna show a few videos of myself. Again, I'm a product builder. I'm not a pro video editor. Right? So bear with me here, but I'm curious what you guys think makes them good or or can be improved in these videos. And these are just a few I shared lately. Three tools I can't live without. One, WhisperFlow. It allows you to talk to your computer, which is three times faster than typing, and it's amazingly accurate. Two, Cleanshot, the best screenshot tool out there, smooth as butter. And three, Granola. Any takes on this video? What makes it good? What could be better? It's a big big mixed feeling here. Some people think it's too much information. The other thing, it's it's to the point. Cool. Let's have a look at the second one. Stop making videos that sound like this. Make videos that sound like this instead. We just launched the new clean audio, and it's better than ever. And best of all, it's just one click in the app. So what are we thinking about this one? Super clear. It's I think it's easier if you just talk about one idea in your video. I miss Amsterdam. Sometimes the chat doesn't scroll for me on this. Sometimes if there's anything new, it's nice if you point it out. Yeah. The video will be all of this is recorded so you can watch it back later. Yeah. Cool. Then the last one. Yeah. Most of this is it's all made in feed. Some of it is made on the feed mobile app and some on the desktop app because our desktop app has more features, and mobile is really made to make short, quick videos on the go. So we just launched Funko, the best AI model to make talking videos. So you hear normal me talking right now, but I can also be a cowboy me or baby me or anime me. Arigato? Or love me. Wow. That's all love me. How about you? What will you make? Head over to feet and show us. Very different video. Not sure how many of you have tried FeedFabric already, but it's been so much fun to play with. Cool. So any more thoughts on the video? Voice to muffled. AI generated as well. Yeah. That's correct. This video is fully AI generated, even the normal version of me. Too much background music. Yeah. Cool. Alright. Alright. Nice. I've had a lot of fun analyzing these. Next time, we should also ask people to bring some of their videos. And now I wanna go into the how I edit. Mhmm. So I wanna focus on something we're doing on mobile to make videos on the go. So not all of the videos I showed before are possible to make on mobile. They are all possible to make on feed web. But on mobile, we decided to have a very simple, focused approach. We are growing the team and building an even more comprehensive product, but you can already do a lot of cool things. So I'm gonna show you a video that I made, and then I I'll show you how I went through that edit process. Anna, is there a a feature here that we can have people show hands or do, a poll or something? Because I would like to know how many people already have the mobile app and already have tried it. Is it possible? So the app is only iOS for now, but Android is coming. We don't just don't have it yet. Okay. So most people don't have the app yet. I will definitely advise you to download it. It's pretty different from the feed app. You know, it has all the things you're used to, like high quality edits, great subtitles, but it's just much more focused. And I'll show you how it works now. So this is the video I made. Hey. This is a little test recording to show how I'm editing in the Features app. It's really simple. Cool. So I made this yesterday specifically. You don't have to analyze this video. It's not necessarily super great, but just wanna show you what kind of videos you can make with the with the mobile app. And now I'll show you how that editing works because I think it's super simple, and I would love to get your feedback on this. So here we go. We said choose a video, and I've prerecorded this one. By the way, on the recording wait. I'll pause it here. But on the recording, I made sure to face the window so I had good lighting. Just hold the phone a bit away from myself so that you have some space around you in the shot. And it's super helpful for resizing, but just also makes it look better. So what we do here is we select the spoken language. In this case, it's English. You can also translate the captions if you want, but for now, I just want them in English. What we then do in the app is we analyze your video. We analyze the transcript of your video so that after that, you can that we can do some of the edits automatically. And, yeah, I'll see some comments from Android users. So, yeah, you then see the edit in different styles, so you can toggle to find the style you like. And then below you can also turn off or on certain features. So I'm turning on zoom now, so I zoom in on important moments, and that makes the video more dynamic as well. If I want, I can go into our editor to make some tweaks, and I'm doing that here. So what I'm gonna do is I'll add a sticker just to make it a little bit more dynamic. So we're talking about video recording. I like this play thingy. It's nice effect in the beginning, so let's just put it on there. I also didn't like my intro. It took a little bit too long before I started talking, and that is really killer on social media. So I'm cropping that out. Great. And I wanna make sure my subtitles show up right away. So I'm making zooming in a bit and making my subtitles start from the beginning so you get that hey on screen right away. And that's it. This edit was made within a minute, and I think it looks pretty good actually. Again, it's really about that storyline in the first three seconds. Of course, you can go much deeper. You can do very cool b roll. We also offer b roll in the app, by the way, also AI generated b roll if you don't want to add your own b roll. So then we do it automatically, but I already like this clean, simple style here. Any questions or feedback so far? Yeah. There's a big button if you wanna download the app. My if you're on your computer, it it will take you to a link. You can paste the link, but it's it's VidShorts AI videos. Yes. Cool. Okay. Yeah. Hungarian. Like, we're actually very popular in Eastern Europe, in the Arabic speaking world, in countries basically where the the, let's say, the normal apps, yeah, don't have such a good offering. Like, it's a lot of people do English pretty well, but we try to do all languages super well. So just today, I spoke to a user in Iceland who was very happy with with our subtitles, actually. Cool. Then the second thing I wanna talk about because, yes, editing and recording, very important, but it's also about just doing this, finding the time for it. So love to hear from you guys. The the ones that have been posting, I saw a lot of hands. I saw a lot of people respond in the chat that they have posted something this week. So what are your tips to to find the time to to create videos? Well, then I'll I'll share my tips. I think the most important thing is to build a habit. Whatever it is that you wanna do, just commit to to a habit. So it might be for me, it's now I wanna do one video a week at least, and I'm doing that on Thursday mornings. So Thursday mornings, I always make a block. I make sure I have an idea before going into it, and then I just block some time to record the video, edit it, and post it right away. So building a habit, and there are tons of ways of doing that. Right? I also met a guy who always filmed himself when he went to the gym in the morning, and then he just posted that with very little editing. And I think that's that's a really powerful tool. So building a habit is one. Then the the second point is to find a way of editing that works for you, especially if you're posting every day. Then, yeah, you you need to find something that works for you. If you need to think about the type of edits or what kind of intro, outro you wanna do, what kind of subtitles you wanna have and change it on every video, it's just too much work, and you will you will probably not keep up with it for for too long. Gijs, yeah, correct. I'm from The Netherlands. You can see the beautiful Amsterdam Canals here. We do have some events that we're inviting people over to to our office. So I think on a for the next event, we can set up something that we make sure we include all of our Dutch users. Cool. So then over to tip three. Don't overthink it. That's the easiest way to get stuck. Like, you might think a video isn't very great or, like, how big is the audience for this idea, but that kinda creates creative block. And I think it's much better to stick to your habit and post a video, whether it's daily or weekly, than to overthink it and then end up not doing anything. So I think spontaneous or maybe even a bad video is better than no video at all. So, yeah, these are some of the tips I have to create a time for making videos. Ah, should've brought more water with all this talking. And then, of course, you can also generate videos. I think to most of us, this is a bit new. This is a bit scary, and it might not be for everyone. But for some of you, it might be interesting. So I just wanna show how we do that in feed and what are different ways you could be using this. So let's start off with the result. This is a video I made in our mobile app. We have about 50 actors now. They speak any language you can think of, so also Hungarian, for example. And the videos look something like this. Here's what most people don't realize about AI video tools. They've completely removed the hard parts. Like, you used to need editing skills, So as you can see, software, we have multiple of. rendering time. Every scene has their own shot, like Veed, and that makes video just a. little bit more AI. handles the cuts, the captions, the transitions. And now I'll show you how I actually made this thing. So you click generate with AI. You pick an actor. This is from a little while ago. We still had some Christmas characters. I think they're removed now. So I picked this actor, and then you can create a prompt or you can upload your own script. So the prompt I I created was making videos is easy now that we have AI. Yeah, indeed, of course. Then what we will do is we, in the background, generate a script for you and generate the speech for that script, the speech that this actor should be speaking, basically. So this takes a little while, not too long. And now you can see your script, and you can listen most people it. don't realize about AI video tools. They've completely removed the hard parts. Like, you used to need editing seeing, expensive software, generated video of, rendering time. but you're you're tools like Veed, the script, you just you're seeing the the. different scenes that we have. And then if you're happy with you you can change this, of course. You can change what the actor is saying, and then regenerate the audio, and that's quite quick. And then we generate the video for you, and you get the result that I showed earlier. I'll take one second now to look at the questions so far. Check, yeah, if you want the character to be you, your company, other transcript. Okay. Yeah. So I can speak to some of these questions. So for now, we only have AI actors. They're expanding. We have more and more of them. We don't allow you to upload your own image yet. That is coming soon. And what is also coming soon is the ability to create your own character, to prompt for changes to the character or to the background or to the clothes. So let's say, we want this guy to have curly hair, or we want him to be wearing a suit or whatever. We can do that quite easily. The reason that we're being that it's taking a bit longer to let you upload your image is that we definitely don't want to become a deep fake tool, right, to have, I don't know, Donald Trump say weird stuff and then generate it in our app. We don't want that. So we need to build some checks and balances, and we're still still working on that. So, yeah, that's the answer to that question. For now, you can't upload your own image yet. Let's see. Anything else? Yeah. So the pauses that is mostly solved in our app. You can, of course, also still edit these these parts. Right? You can take pauses out. Let's see. Anna, are there any other questions I've missed? I don't know, guys, what you're referring to with the using keywords. But yes, let's tackle that in the QA. Because I'm almost at the end of my presentation, and then we can just speak to each other, which I'm very excited about. It's easier than just reading the chat. So, yeah, to recap what we've talked about today, I would really urge you to focus on the first three seconds of your video and make those great so you can people hooked into your video, and then the rest will take care of itself. You need to make sure you create a simple flow that works for you. So whether it is how you hold the camera, how you do your edits, don't make it too hard on yourself. And you can always add more floors later, but it's very often that people get so stuck up in the details that they just don't even start creating in the first place. Or you can generate with AI. There will be a lot of improvements there over the next couple of weeks and months. I will also share my email address. You can connect with me on LinkedIn, so you have a direct connection to me, so I can always answer your questions, and we can work on improving these flows together because that's how I like to work. I would I love to work with our customers to make the product better. So, yeah, these are my tips for today. I hope you enjoyed it, and I'm super curious to hear more questions and see what else I can help with. Thanks for for your time, and let's go to the QA, Anna. Yeah. Thank you so much. We have such a good audience, so many questions. I I want to tackle the question about keywords. We are gonna have a a master class on the twenty eighth about video discoverability, making sure that you rank in Google search and and in AI search. So make that you join that webinar, that master class. And going back to our initial questions. So there were questions about someone was from Greece, and they were asking if they can have their subtitles in Greek. 100%, yes. I actually, earlier this week, spoke to a Greek user as well, and she was very happy with the subtitle quality. So, yeah, you can, and it works with Greek alphabet. I think it's called alphabet as well. Yeah. Yeah. It works really well. I think there were quite a few questions about the mobile app monetization model, which things are free, which are under payroll. Maybe it's worth kind of sharing a few words about that. 100%. So our app is available for free. The only thing is that you'll get a watermark, small watermark, and some of the automated features don't work for free users because these cost us money to run. So we, unfortunately, cannot offer to free users. But we see a lot of free users who are getting a lot of value from our app. I think we have around a 100 k video exports from free users every week even. So, yeah, definitely a lot of people are finding value in it, but it's, you know, it's not premium experience. You you need to pay for the premium experience. Yeah. And, also, I know that some of of the customers that are here with us today, they are on a paid plan on web already. And so probs, Okay. yeah, probs plan subscribers, they have they automatically have the premium version of the mobile. app. Right? Exactly. If you log in with your pro account, then you have the mobile pro version as well. So that's great. You can just use all of the features, and it works super well. Yeah. The only thing you sometimes, you can have multiple workspaces in your account, right? This is a bit technical, but maybe some of you know. But you need to make sure you are on the workspace where your plan is. So sometimes people have a free workspace and a pro workspace. Make sure you are on that pro workspace. It's. very easy to see that, but if it doesn't work, it might be that issue, but then it should work. Yeah. There is another question about subtitles again. Do we support. Slovenian? Yes. 100%. Yeah. Yeah. I would advise you to to try it out. Also, let me know if you're happy with the quality or not because sometimes we we work with a lot of different AI models. And sometimes we find out, hey, actually, for Slovenian, we need to switch to this other model. So I would urge you to try it out and then send me an e mail or a LinkedIn DM that you well, either you might like the quality or that we need to do something to improve there. Generally. speaking, for Eastern European languages, the app works really well. I have already posted William's LinkedIn here, posting it again. So make sure you connect. And if you have any questions, let him know. I think we will take one last question. Oh, yes. This has been recorded, and you will get the recording afterwards. Someone cannot find the I will drop the link here. I think there was a question about watermarks and another question about enhancing video quality. Not sure what exactly the. user meant, but maybe we can elaborate on that a little. So I'm not sure what the question is on watermarks, but there will be a small watermark if you're not a paying user. And on enhancing video, so we are taking basically bad quality video and upscaling that in the app. That's not something we're currently doing on mobile. Most of all, because the mobile camera, generally speaking, is really good. It's really good quality. Like, even this call, I'm not sure if you if my video quality seems good. But for me, if I look at the screen, it's really good, and it's just an iPhone that's hanging on top of my computer. So it's an amazing camera. And if you film with that, it's it's almost never needed to upscale that. Someone is asking, is there a way to add both Greek and English subtitles? If not, how would you do it? Upload the video again. Yeah. So this is a pretty popular request. We've looked into it, but it it became a little bit messy. I do this sometimes, but what I then do is just I create a video, and this is a bit of a cheat. Right? I create the video, export it in English, and then do it again with Greek subtitles. So, basically, you have the subtitles in English burned in, then. you put that into your app and add Greek subtitles to it as well. And then you have very neat two lines of subtitles so you can share it with your with your international audience. That's a good hack. Love that. Yeah. And it it's super quick. It's super. quick. Yeah. I mean, if you burn burn the subtitles and then add the other language, that. would be fast. Someone is asking if it is possible to edit without Internet access. Not without Internet access at all, right? What we do with, for example, generating subtitles, it's done in the cloud. But then once you have these, you can do everything offline, basically, or the exporting is offline. But all of the automated stuff is happening in the cloud, so there you do need Internet access. Not an awful lot. Right? It's not as if we're just, you know, destroying your whole data bundle. We're not doing video uploads and downloads, so that's a big difference. But, yeah, you do need Internet access. So if they have added subtitles, the subtitles are saved, and then they suddenly lose their Internet access. Yeah. It's they can just edit the subtitles and export the video. Yeah. yeah. Very good. Someone is asking if they can contact us for a personalized solution on image to video generation. Yes. I think you can. Maybe you just have to I will drop an email here and message us there. But we also have an API. So if you are looking for our fabric API, then you should probably talk with someone from our enterprise team. I will drop the email here. Thank you so much. This was such an interesting and engaging session. We will send everyone the recording, and we should probably wrap up now. Great. Yes. And just a message for everyone. I'm super responsive. So if you have more questions, you want to go deeper on anything, just shoot me an e mail or a DM on LinkedIn. Often LinkedIn is even quicker because on email, you sometimes might end up in spam if you do it from a personal email address to my business email address. Yes. And I want to thank you a lot for participating here and asking all of these great questions. I hope you enjoyed it, and I hope you will enjoy our app even more. Again, Android is coming. Video uploads are coming, and I hope I'll be able to share more on the exact time lines for that soon. Awesome. Thank you, and see you next time. Bye. See you, everyone. Bye bye.
